Dr. Bartel established the first adult cardiac catheterization laboratory
and initiated cardiac rehabilitation in the area, serving as Director
of the program at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He has also been
Chief of the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Division of Cardiology,
Medical Director of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Cardiac Catheterization
Laboratory and the Cardiac Rehabilitation program. He has published
numerous articles in medical journals and participates in educating
students and residents at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is
actively involved in working with people with disabilities and enjoys
skiing, biking, physical fitness and playing the flute.
