Throughout his career, Dr. Hartman has assumed a position of medical leadership at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He has served as Director of Intermediate Care and Telemetry Units and Director of the Cardiac Critical Care Unit. He is an associate professor of medicine at the Eastern Virginia Medical School and past President of the Medical Staff at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He currently serves as Medical Director of Sentara Heart Hospital and the Sentara Cardiac Service line. He continues to practice cardiology seeing patients in the office for Cardiovascular Associates. He enjoys golf, tennis and skiing.
