Dr. Onufer serves as the Medical Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Lab at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and Medical Director of the Chest Pain Observation Unit at Chesapeake General Hospital. He has active research interests in the treatment of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia and is the principal investigator in two major studies sponsored by the National Institute of Health. He is active in educating students and residents at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. He volunteers his time and expertise to Physicians for Peace, helping to develop electrophysiology programs in Egypt, as well as volunteering at the Virginia Beach Free Clinic. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing tennis.
